My earliest writing job was for a website developer. I wrote blogs and website copy for her clients as requested. These clients were all horse trainers and breeders, a world with which I had only a passing familiarity. This required me to do some on-the-job learning and research to fully understand their world and develop appropriate and specific voices for each client. Since then, I've done copy editing and writing for a variety of clients. These jobs can range from minor edits to maintain voice consistency and ensure proper grammar and clarity all the way to re-writes of entire sites.

Unfortunately, due to contractual obligations, I cannot use the copy from those websites for my portfolio. Instead, I've decided to write for a fictional software company - Luxxor. Luxxor is a startup based around an innovative app (Lux) which functions as a limited learning AI meant to organize client's homes, lives, and companies across systems and devices. I decided that the tone should be young but professional. This is a product for both individuals and businesses, and the copy should be accessible for both audiences. I modeled the brand voice on existing tech startups designed to appeal to a wide variety of customers.

Your child's school sends a snow day email? Lux can learn to recognize it, alert you, and change everyone's alarm to allow for a sleep-in. There's an accident on the freeway? Lux will ask you if you want to send a text to your husband's phone with an updated ETA. You have an iPhone, your partner has an Android, and together you have a Google Home?
